German Chancery Annex | German Embassy

JMA Preservation was retained for the Washington DC German Embassy campus renovation project, to assist in a review of the work and existing conditions of an historic residence, which is part of the German Embassy complex.

JMA assembled a team of engineers and hazmat specialists and performed a thorough analysis of the conditions within this early 1930’s structure. The existing conditions included damage from excessive moisture intrusion and structural deficiencies due to many previous alterations to the structural framing on several floors. Based on these findings, JMA developed solutions and construction documents to alleviate these specific problems and deficiencies.

The scope of work included finishing the installation of all new MEP and life safety systems, the installation of new security windows and doors; renovation of the second floor for new office spaces and restrooms, the installation of a large commercial kitchen with walk-in refrigerators, as well as three dining rooms and accessible restrooms on the first floor.
