Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church
Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church is an old English country Gothic-style church in Washington, D.C. The goal of this project, which involved master planning and implementation of several phases of design, was to expand and restore the church’s aging and failing infrastructure without distracting from the historic character of the original church.
The first phase of the project involved renovating the church. MTFA used state-of-the-art technology to refine the perceived shape of the building and improved the worship experience through lighting and acoustics. The chancel area and pipe organ were physically redesigned to better focus on the table with generous liturgical space provided to evoke the feeling of “gathering around.” The second phase involved the exterior renovation and the third phase focused on the educational wing.
